# LibTmux.Operation.stop/1

- **Module:** LibTmux
- **Package:** libtmux
- **Language:** Elixir
- **Kind:** function
- **Source:** https://github.com/libtmux/libtmux-elixir/blob/66b9b1c3f3f3186428abdfda2c76f5cf87446710/lib/libtmux/operation.ex#L204
- **Page:** https://libtmux.org/en/elixir/latest/reference/libtmux-operation-stop-1/

```
stop(operation)
@spec stop(t()) :: :ok | {:error, LibTmux.Error.t()}
```

Requests closure of the pinned epoch through reserved capacity.

Returns `:ok` for an already wire-retired operation or an accepted closure
request, and `{:error, error}` otherwise. Closure can affect sibling work;
success does not prove retirement or change the canonical result. A stale
handle cannot revoke a replacement epoch.

See the [worked example](advanced-execution.html).

## Parameters

- `operation` (`t()`)
