# tmux respawn-window

Source: https://libtmux.org/en/tmux/3.2a/manual/respawn-window/

> Reactivate a window in which the command has exited (see the remain-on-exit window option).

Reactivate a window in which the command has exited (see the remain-on-exit window option).

## Syntax

```tmux-usage
tmux respawn-window [-k] [-c start-directory] [-e environment] [-t target-window] [command]
```

Alias: `respawnw`.

## Behavior

Reactivate a window in which the command has exited (see the `remain-on-exit` window option). If `shell-command` is not given, the command used when the window was created or last respawned is executed. The window must be already inactive, unless `-k` is given, in which case any existing command is killed. `-c` specifies a new working directory for the window. The `-e` option has the same meaning as for the [`new-window`](https://libtmux.org/en/tmux/3.2a/manual/new-window/) command.
